That’s kind of a tought question. I think you should watch the OVA first, or you can wait for the anime to finish, and then watch it. Because I’m not sure how connected both are. The OVA seems to make more sense.

But most of all, if you haven’t heard the Black Rock Shooter song from Miku Hatsune, go watch the MV on YouTube. It will make a lot more sense if you understand the story that inspired the anime.
